Please bear with us: Service Interruptions as Alderman Library prepares for Renovation

As the books move out of UVA’s central grounds library into Clemons Library and Ivy Stacks to make way for renovation, public services staff will move with the books to help people find what they need. Other staff who work behind the scenes to keep the Library running smoothly need a little more time to set up farther away. During that time, a few library services will be suspended.

Services of Interlibrary loan, Library Express On-Grounds (LEO) delivery, and Library purchase recommendations will be temporarily cut back, but the Library is working to restore complete service as quickly as possible. Things should be back to normal during the second week in January. Until then we beg your indulgence.

List of services interruptions:

  • Purchase recommendations, November 1–January 6, users may request the purchase of e-books and streaming media only. The Library will resume accepting requests for books and physical media after January 6.
  • The McGregor Room, November 25–29, will be closed to allow removal of the books from the shelves.
  • Interlibrary loan, November 25–January 8, will accept requests for PDF scans of articles and book chapters until December 16, 2019. Full service resumes after January 8.
  • December 16–January 8, LEO delivery service for faculty and grad students will be suspended. Library-to-library returns will continue.
