This past semester, the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library played a role in a new course “History and Culture of Writing at UVA,” taught by assistant professor of English Heidi Nobles. According to a UVA Today article, the students learned about UVA culture by examining a variety of student writing, including informal writings and ephemera produced by students throughout the University’s history and housed in the Small Special Collections Library.
Special Collections worked with the students mostly “in a virtual setting” during the pandemic However, several small groups of students, following safety protocols, were conducted on tours by Special Collections Instruction Librarian Krystal Appiah.
