As this unusual semester winds down and UVA prepares for a two-week winter closure, a few Library services are shifting as well.
A few key items to be aware of between now and the new year include:
- Study spaces in Clemons will remain open for the semester until 6 p.m. on Friday, December 11.
- Clemons will remain open for pickup only on December 14-18, between 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
- From December 19 – January 3, 2021 Library services and spaces will be fully closed.
Use Library pickup for research needs
We realize this is a key time for research and semester planning, so pickup will remain available at Clemons Library and (for graduate students and faculty only) at Central Grounds Parking Garage until Friday, December 18. Visitors to Clemons must use their UVA ID to enter the building, and masks are required on all parts of UVA Grounds.
Please place pickup requests early so that we have time to gather your materials before we close for the winter break. We will process as many requests as possible before closing, and you will receive an email when your item is ready for pickup.
Read more about requesting items for pickup.
No Library services available from December 19 – January 3
The University has elected to fully close for two weeks around the winter holidays to give staff time to rejuvenate after this unusual year. Because of this, NO Library services that require staff involvement will be offered during this time.
During the winter closure, most digital resources will remain available, and patrons will be able to place requests through the Virgo catalog, but those requests will not be tended to or monitored during the closure. We will process questions and requests as quickly as possible when we reopen on January 4, 2021.
Looking forward to a hopeful new year
We at the Library are so appreciative to those of you working to support our community, enable so many kinds of important work, and keep spirits high.
We wish the very best to you and yours for an uplifting holiday season, and very much look forward to meeting you in the promising light of a brand new year.
