With students, including the Library’s many student workers, not returning to Grounds after spring break because of caution around the outbreak of COVID-19, the Library faces significantly reduced staffing capacity for public services. Simultaneously, we are dramatically increasing our support for scanning, online learning, and distance access.
Beginning Sunday, March 15, Library hours will largely operate on an 8 a.m. – 5p.m. (or 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. in some locations) schedule from Monday through Friday. On this coming Sunday, only Clemons Library will be open. As always, visit the Library hours page for the most up to date information.
The Health Sciences Library, Darden Library, and Law Library are currently examining their scheduling—latest information can be found on the University’s Operations Status Board.
Meeting patron needs
We recognize that these limited hours may prove inconvenient to visitors who live in Charlottesville and require internet access or use of Library spaces. If you anticipate a need to utilize Library spaces in evening hours, for the purpose of teaching or attending classes, we ask that you please let us know by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Being aware of your needs will help us work together to empower students and educators in a sustainable way.
