The Library is preparing for the renovation of Alderman by relocating library collections, staff, and services, in order that Alderman can be closed at the end of the Spring semester. This will cause some planned but significant service interruptions.
One such interruption begins November 1, when we change our shipping delivery location and related operations. In November and December, we’ll be moving more than 35 library personnel in units involved in receiving, processing, and delivering physical library materials and relocating their offices from Alderman to temporary housing near Ivy Stacks. We appreciate your patience as we make this transition.
As you plan for the remainder of the Fall and especially for the Spring semester, please be sure to request materials in advance of the deadlines below.
- All purchase recommendation requests, materials, and rush cataloging for physical materials will be suspended beginning November 1, 2019 and will resume on January 6, 2020. We will still accept e-book and streaming media requests during this time. Please prepare your requests needed for the Spring semester prior to November 1, 2019. For questions regarding purchasing recommendation requests, please contact your subject liaison or Beth Blanton-Kent, Director of Collections.
- Interlibrary loan borrowing services will be suspended beginning November 25, 2019 and will resume on January 8, 2020. We will stop requesting physical items during this time, but we will request pdf scans until December 16, 2019. If you need to return borrowed ILL items, you should return all physical items before December 16. For questions regarding interlibrary loan services, please contact Renee Reighart, Head of Access Services.
- LEO delivery services for faculty and graduate students will be suspended beginning December 16, 2019 and will resume on January 8, 2020. For questions regarding LEO delivery services, please contact Caleb Mechem, LEO and Document Delivery Manager.
We apologize for the inconveniences that will be caused by this and other relocations over the coming months: we’ll do our best to give you advance warning and to resume normal operations as quickly as possible.
