On Friday, April 1, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Harrison/Small Auditorium the John L. Nau III Center for Civil War History will present a Signature Conference: “War as Muse: Revisiting Iconic Texts of the Civil War Era.” The conference will focus on how the War influenced the course of American letters, with presentations of writings about the war and its aftermath by observers in military, government, and civilian life, including William Tecumseh Sherman, Mary Boykin Chesnut, Jefferson Davis, Joseph T. Wilson, Edward Porter Alexander, and Charlotte Forten.
The conference is open to the UVA community and the general public.
