R.I.P. Julian Bond, 1940-2015

The Library remembers H. Julian Bond, Civil Rights leader and long-time U.Va. professor, who died last Saturday at the age of 75. Bond was a legend of the Civil Rights movement long before he came to the University in 1992, where he taught in the Corcoran Department of History before retiring in 2012.

Bond’s papers reside in the Albert and Shirley Small Special Collections Library. Among many other activities at the University he also worked with history professor Phyllis Leffler to co-direct the “Explorations in Black Leadership” oral history project.
